Description
No. 70 on Leigh Road is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys tall. It is constructed of brick and features a dentilled string course at the first-floor level. The building has an elaborate moulded brick eaves cornice, with the mouldings extending upwards as coping on the gable ends. The roof is covered with old tiles and has flanking chimneys, while the upper part of the gable coping is made of large flat tiles.
On the first floor, there are two coupled windows on either side of a central single window, which has moulded stone cills and a flush apron beneath it. The windows are fitted with glazing bar sashes and are topped with cambered brick arches. The ground floor also features two coupled windows and a central six-panel door, where the top four panels are raised and fielded. Above the door is an arched radiating fanlight adorned with corner honeysuckle ornamentation. Additionally, there is a lower ground floor at the rear of the building.
