Description
This is a post located approximately half a mile north of Fickleshole, dating from around 1860. It stands about 3½ feet high and features a metal four-legged plinth with a chamfered pier above. The post has a moulded capital band and a pyramidal top. On the front, there is a cast City of London shield along with lettering on the pier that reads "24& 25/VICT CAP 42". This post served as a Coal and Wine tax marker, indicating the boundary where duty was payable, with the coal tax dating back to the 1660s.
