Description

Danegrove School is a primary school built between 1949 and 1950 by Architects' Co-Partnership. It features a steel frame with precast concrete panels and coloured panel infill, constructed using the Hills 8' 3" system as modified by Hertfordshire. The building has flat roofs and is single-storeyed, with a double-height assembly hall, entrance hall, and administration area at its core, while the classroom block is staggered to the east. The classrooms are designed with large strip windows that extend from near the ceiling to almost floor level, complemented by opaque panels below. The windows are framed in metal, and the building has prominent eaves and a cornice. Inside the assembly hall, there is an important mural by Fred Millett. The school was formerly known as Oakland School.
