Description
The Clock Tower, built in 1936, is a notable structure located on Bramley Road in De Bohun Park. It features a square-section design with a tall lower stage constructed of brown brick laid in Flemish bond, resting on an engineering brick plinth. Each side of the tower has a louvred ventilation slit. The tower is topped with stepped concrete coping. Above this, there is a narrower square clock stage made of red brick, which also has a square clock face on each side and tiled coping. The cap of the tower is made of brown brick with concrete coping. The clock mechanism was created by J. Smith & Sons of Derby, and the tower houses five bells cast by Taylors of Loughborough, all dated 1936. These bells play the tune "boys and girls come out to play."
