Description

De Bohun School is a school building constructed in 1936 by W T Curtis and H W Burchett of the Middlesex County Council's Architects' Department. It is made of red diaper brick with concrete roofs, floors, and stairs. The building features a tower that includes the entrance, a staircase, and a panopticon-style summit staffroom. Adjacent to the tower are offices and an assembly hall, from which extend two wings, each two storeys high, containing eight classrooms that face south, along with a corridor at the rear. All windows are metal casements, with those in the upper office storeys and all classrooms arranged in continuous horizontal bands, some with cement render infill, and featuring projecting first-floor cill bands and deep projecting eaves cornices. The tall staircase window has margin-light glazing and set-back brickwork above the double-doored entrance, which is topped with a flat canopy.
