Description

Nos 4 to 16 on Porchester Place is a terrace of buildings constructed in the 1820s by S P Cockerell for the Trustees of the Bishop of London. The buildings are made of brown brick in Flemish bond, and they are primarily three storeys tall, except for No 16, which has an added attic. Each building consists of two bays. There are remnants of 19th-century shop fronts with pilasters, fascia, and cornice at Nos 6, 8, 12, and 14, while the other shop fronts are from the 20th century. Above the shop fronts, there are sash windows, mostly featuring glazing bars, with flat gauged brick arches, some of which have been replaced. Nos 14 and 16 have stucco architraves. Nos 10 to 14 have had mansard roofs and dormers added. No 16 features a cornice and an attic with a blank panel for a sign in the parapet.
