Description

This is an early 19th-century public house, located on the corner of Kendal Street and Connaught Street in the City of Westminster. The building is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond, with a channelled stucco finish to the ground floor and stucco dressings throughout. It combines with No 36 Connaught Street to form a wider corner block, with No 36 being partly rebuilt.

The Connaught Street elevation has three bays for No 38 and two bays for No 36. The front is pilastered, with a fascia and cornice line. Sashes with glazing bars are set within architraves, and have hoods supported on consoles to No 38. There are blind windows to the left bays. The corner of the building is rounded. The Kendal Street elevation has a prominent entrance featuring fluted columns with feather capitals, supporting a cornice. Sashes with glazing bars are set within architraves on the first and second floors.
