Description
This is an end-of-terrace town house, dating from approximately 1830 to 1840, and likely designed by George Gutch. It was built as part of the Tyburnia development, which occurred after 1827 on land owned by the Bishop of London. The house is constructed of stucco with a slate roof. It is four storeys high, has a basement, and features dormers in the mansard roof. The building is five windows wide, with a three-window return to Bayswater Road. A central portico-porch is supported by paired, fluted Greek Doric columns. The windows are recessed plate glass sashes, with those on the first floor set within architraves. A deep entablature is followed by a dentil cornice, which sits below the attic storey and its crowning cornice with a blocking course. The return to Bayswater Road includes a giant order of Corinthian pilasters on the first and second floors, and the first-floor windows are topped with pediments. A cast iron balcony runs across the first floor. The building features heavy cast iron area railings with spearheads.
