Description

No. 8, Clarendon Place is an end-of-terrace house of return composition, dating from approximately 1845, and likely designed by G. Ledwell Taylor. It is constructed of stucco and brick, with a slate roof. The house comprises four storeys, a basement, and an attic return elevation, connecting to No. 37 Hyde Park Square. It has a facade of two windows. A fluted Greek Doric porch is positioned on the right-hand side. The windows are recessed, flat-arched sashes, with some blind windows present. Plat bands and a cornice return from Hyde Park Square. Area railings are in place. A single-storey stucco screen wall extends southwards, incorporating a stucco balustrade. The building is part of the Tyburnia development on the Bishop of London's Estate, planned by George Gutch.
