Description
Nos 24 and 25 Albion Street, including No 59a Connaught Street, form a section of a terrace that now serves as a corner block with shops. This building dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of yellow brick with a channelled stucco ground floor and stucco dressings. The roof is concealed, and the building has three storeys plus an attic.
The front facing Connaught Street features a plate glass shop window set within an architrave. There is an iron balcony on the first floor, with a French window surrounded by pilasters, a frieze, and a shallow pediment. A tripartite sash window is located in a shouldered surround, topped by a cornice, and another tripartite sash is situated under a flat gauged brick arch. The entrance at the corner is marked by a prostyle Composite porch.
On the Albion Street side, there is a shop window in an architrave supported by corbels. To the left of the pilastered porch, which contains a blocked door flanked by narrow pilasters, is a plate glass window in an architrave. Above this, the left bay has tripartite windows that are now blocked, while the other windows are sashes with glazing bars under flat gauged brick arches. The centre window on the first floor is also blocked, and there is a balcony on the right side of the first floor, topped by a cornice.
