Description
Hyde Park Place is an end of terrace house built around 1837-1840, likely designed by George Gutch. The building is constructed of stucco with a slate roof and features four storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard. It has three windows across the front, with the entrance on the left side, which includes a porch supported by fluted Greek Doric columns that project onto the pavement. The ground floor is channelled and has recessed plate glass sash windows. The upper floors also have sash windows, with those on the first floor featuring architraves. There is a modillion and dentil cornice above the second floor, as well as an attic cornice and a blocking course. A cast iron balcony with a geometric pattern is located on the first floor, and there are cast iron spearhead area railings. The building has stucco chimney stacks. This façade continues the return of No. 2 Hyde Park Street and is part of the Bishop of London's development of Tyburnia, which was initially planned by S P Cockerell in 1827 but was laid out according to a modified plan by G Gutch.
