Description
No. 88, Seymour Street is a terraced "4th rate" house built around 1828-30 as part of the early Bishop of London’s Estate development near Connaught Square. The house is constructed of stock brick with the ground floor treated with channelled stucco. It has a concealed slate roof. The building is four storeys high with a basement. It is two windows wide. A semicircular arched doorway is on the right-hand side, featuring a panelled door and a fanlight with a loop pattern. Most windows are recessed glazing bar sashes set within flat, gauged arches, except for the first floor, where there are marginal glazed French windows. A plat band delineates the end of the stuccoed ground floor. A parapet with coping tops the building. A continuous, cast iron balcony with a geometric pattern runs along the first floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials are also present.
