Description
These carriage gates and lamps stand across a road from Birdcage Walk, flanked by pedestrian gates. They date from the late 18th century or early 19th century and are constructed from cast and wrought iron. The carriage gates and pedestrian gates are simple, topped with spike finials and include lower horizontal bars, sometimes called "dog rails." The gate piers are formed of clusters of iron rails, and are topped with square, finialed lamps fixed to openwork pyramid-shaped supports.
