40 Queen Anne's Gate is a Grade I listed terraced town house located in the City of Westminster. Built around 1700 to 1704, it features early 19th-century alterations and is part of the original Queen Square development. The building is constructed of brown brick with a stuccoed ground floor and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys high, with a basement and a dormered mansard, and is five windows wide, including two blind windows.

The early to mid-19th-century enclosed stucco porch has an archivolt arched opening, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are recessed and have flush framed glazing bar sashes. The upper floor windows feature flat gauged red brick arches, while the ground and first floor windows have carved stone mask keystones. There are stone plat bands on the first and second floors, and the parapet has coping. The property is also adorned with wrought iron area railings topped with urn finials.

Inside, the house retains elements of original panelling and a well-preserved staircase with a cut and carved string and three twisted balusters per tread. This building is part of an exceptional group of Queen Anne houses.
