Description
CITY OF WESTMINSTER QUEEN ANNE'S GATE, SW1 TQ 2979 NE 91/35 24.2.58 No 42 G.V. I Corner terraced town house. c1700-04, altered early C19, built as part of the original Queen Square development. Stucco faced brown brick, slate roof. 3 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 5 windows wide with 3-window north return. Central semicircular arched architraved doorway with fanlight; former entrance to right of return altered to bow window. Slightly recessed framed sashes under flat arches, those on ground and 1st floors retaining original stone mask keystones. 1st and 2nd floor plat bands; parapet with coping. Interior retains panelling, cornices and original cut and carved string staircase with 3 twisted balusters per tread, etc. Part of an exceptional group of Queen Anne houses.
