CITY OF WESTMINSTER QUEEN ANNE'S GATE, SWl TQ 2979 NE 91/33 No 44 24.2.58 G.V. I Terraced town house. c1700-04, with early C19 parapet, built as part of the original Queen Square development, probably as a pair with No 46 q.v. Brown brick with red brick window dressings, slate roof. 3 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 3 windows wide plus a blind half window. Entrance to left (coupled with No 46) has panelled door in wood architrave case with projecting cove hood. Flush framed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged arches, those on ground and 1st floors with carved stone mask keystones. lst_apd 2nd stone plat bands; parapet with coping. Wrought iron area railings with flambe torch finials. Similar rear elevation. Interior retains most of panelling, cornices and original cut and carved string staircase with 3 turned balusters per tread, etc. Part of an exceptional group of Queen Anne houses.
