46, Queen Anne's Gate SW1

46 Queen Anne's Gate is a Grade I listed terraced town house built between 1700 and 1704, with early 19th-century alterations. It was constructed as part of the original Queen Square development, likely as a pair with No 44. The building features a stucco-faced brown brick exterior and a slate roof, rising three storeys with a basement and a dormered attic. The façade is three windows wide, plus a half-blind window. The entrance, located to the right and shared with No 44, has a panelled door framed by a wooden architrave and topped with a projecting cove hood. A slightly recessed framed bay window is positioned over the area at the ground floor. The first and second floors have plat bands, and there is a wooden modillion eaves cornice. The rear elevation is stuccoed but retains mask keystones and plat bands. Inside, the house preserves a significant amount of original panelling and cornices, along with a cut and carved string staircase featuring three twisted balusters per tread. This property is part of an exceptional group of Queen Anne houses.
