Description
The Bishop Auckland Cemetery Gates, located on South Church Road, are likely from 1884 and are made of cast and wrought iron. The gates feature three Gothic-style piers that have stop-chamfered edges, plinths, cornices, and swept pyramid coping with a trefoil projection on each face. Each pier is topped with spherical finials that have central strings. The pedestrian gate on the left shares a pier with the vehicle gate on the right. Both gates are adorned with fleur-de-lys finials on plain standards and on the dog bars, and they also include cross bracing on the lower panels.
