Description

No. 25 D'Arblay Street is a terrace house built in 1736. It features stock brick construction with a stuccoed ground floor and a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high with a dormered mansard and is two windows wide. The ground floor has a square-headed house doorway on the right, which includes a six-panel door and a fanlight set in an early 19th-century frame with thin fluted pilasters. This doorway is situated under an entablature with a dentil cornice, similar to that above the early 19th-century shop front, which has been altered to include three transomed lights while retaining the original frame of fluted pilasters. The upper floors have flush framed glazing bar sash windows beneath segmental red brick arches. There is a plain stucco plat band at the first floor and a brick plat band at the second floor, topped with a parapet that has coping. Inside, the building retains a panelled passage entrance and a dog leg turned balusters closed string staircase dating from around 1736.
