Description
No 15 Poland Street is a terrace house built around 1706, likely refronted around 1800. It is constructed of stock brick and has a concealed roof. The building stands four storeys high and is three windows wide. The mid-20th century shop front and the refacing of the ground floor feature a doorway to the left. The upper floors have recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars on the second and third floors, all set under flat gauged arches. The parapet has coping, and there is a rainwater head dated 1706 on the party line with the rebuilt No. 14. A plaque from the Greater London Council commemorates the residence of the poet Shelley.
Inside, the building retains some original features, including remnants of passage-hall panelling and a narrow open staircase well, with cut string stairs and a ramped handrail.
