Description
No. 36 Gerrard Street is a terrace house built around 1737, with some alterations from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of brown brick and has a slate roof, rising to four storeys, including an attic storey, and features a basement. The building is three windows wide, with a doorway on the right that has a stucco surround, a panelled door, and a fanlight above. The recessed sash windows are set under flat gauged arches, with those on the first floor framed in stucco surrounds. A plat band runs below and a cornice sits above the second floor. The parapet has coping, and there are cast iron area railings. Inside, the house boasts fine features such as a cut string turned baluster staircase, panelling in the passage-hall, stairwell, and main rooms, along with moulded cornices and chimneypieces with overmantels.
