Description

A terrace of houses located at 40-62 Gloucester Gardens, W2, and 40-62 Bishops Bridge Road, built in the mid-19th century. The terrace is constructed of brick with stucco dressings and stucco channelling to the ground floor. It has a slate mansard roof. Each house is two windows wide and comprises four storeys plus attic mansards, with a full attic storey incorporated into the centre four and end houses. Projecting Doric porches are present. A triglyph frieze runs across the entire width of the ground floor. A continuous iron balcony with a bombe design extends across the first floor. The windows are square-headed and architraved above the ground floor. They are sash windows, some with glazing bars and some with plate glass. Cast iron area railings are also present. The terrace possesses group value.
