Description

Nos 125 to 167 on Gloucester Terrace are a row of terraced houses built around 1840. They are constructed of stucco with slate mansard roofs and consist of three storeys, plus an attic for Nos 135 to 161, and a basement. Each house is two windows wide. The left side of each house features a full-height segmental bow with a single tripartite window on each floor. To the right, there is a slightly projecting fluted Doric porch with architraved windows above. The windows are square-headed, with sash designs and glazing bars, while the first floor has French casements. The houses have rusticated quoins and channelling on the ground floor. A continuous bombe cast iron balcony runs along the first floor. Above the second floor, there is a dentil cornice and a subsidiary cornice at the attic level, with balustraded parapets. Some houses retain their balustraded areas. This row is part of a series of similar houses that line Gloucester Terrace.
