Description

A row of houses located in Gloucester Terrace, dating from the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco and have slate mansard roofs on some properties. They extend over four storeys, with basements and attic mansards, although Nos. 73 to 77 have a full attic storey. Each house originally featured two windows. The ground floor is characterised by channelling. Projecting Doric porches and various panelled doors are present. A continuous, curved balcony runs across the first floor. The windows are square headed, with architraves above the ground floor, pediments to the first floor, and cornices to the second floor. They are primarily sash windows with plate glass, with French casements to the first floor. A prominent modillion cornice features above the third floor, with a smaller cornice to the attic. Balustraded parapets are found on some of the houses. Cast iron area railings are present, although replacements date to the 20th century, particularly on Nos. 73 to 77. A return elevation is visible to the right.
