Description

No. 27 Devonshire Terrace is a large, mid-19th century terraced house. It is constructed of stucco with a slate mansard roof. The house is three storeys high with an attic and basement, and has a width of six windows. The entrance is located in the third bay from the right, which slightly projects and features a porch supported by square Corinthian piers with a panelled door. The ground floor has banded rustication. Above the ground floor, the facade is channelled, with segmental, pilastered bow windows on either side of the entrance. The windows are square-headed, with pilaster surrounds, cornices, and pediments. Segmental windows are located in the pilastered attic. The sashes contain plate glass. Balustraded aprons are positioned below the second floor, and there is a console cornice above the second floor, with a subsidiary cornice to the attic.
