Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses located on the north side of Queen's Gardens, and including number 22 Devonshire Street. The buildings are constructed of stucco, with a roof that is not visible. They extend over four storeys, with an attic and basement. Each house has a two-window front. Projecting Doric porches, with solid sides and round-headed windows on the flanks, are a prominent feature. The entrance doors are panelled and studded. A balcony is situated on the first floor. The ground floor windows have architraves, while the first floor windows have alternating triangular and segmental pediments. The second floor windows are corniced. The windows are sash windows with plate glass, with French casements on the first floor. A cornice runs above the third floor. The front of the property is defined by cast iron area railings. The terrace forms part of a larger group, originally extending between numbers 12 to 33 Queen’s Gardens, although intervening houses have since been demolished.
