Description

A pair of mid-19th century terraced houses located on the north side of Chilworth Street, Westminster. The houses are built of brick with stucco dressings and are four storeys high, plus a basement. Each house has two windows. No. 24 has rusticated quoins and a channelled stucco finish to the ground floor around its square-headed entrance. No. 26 features a late 19th-century canted oriel window on the ground floor, incorporating carved brickwork and a square-headed ceramic doorway with a pediment. A continuous bombé balcony runs across the first floor of both houses. The windows are square-headed, with architraves above the ground floor and cornices to the first and second floors. Some windows are sash windows, while others are casements, and the majority contain plate glass. There is a dentil cornice above the third floor. Cast iron area railings are present. The houses are included in the listing primarily for their group value.
