Description

This is a row of houses dating to around 1840, located on Gloucester Terrace in London. The buildings are constructed of stucco with slate mansard roofs and extend over three storeys plus a basement. Each house is two windows wide. The right side of each house features a full-height, segmental bow with a tripartite sash window on each floor. To the left is a slightly projecting porch with fluted Doric columns, rusticated quoins, and semi-circular, architraved windows above. The ground floor is treated with channelling. The windows are largely sashes, with some casements and plate glass. Some windows retain blind boxes. Surviving cast iron balconies with a bombe (rounded) profile are present over some porches. Dentil cornices and balustraded parapets are visible on some of the houses, as are area balustrades. The row is part of a series of similar buildings lining Gloucester Terrace.
