Description
No. 140 Westbourne Terrace is a detached villa built between 1843 and 1848, designed by George Ledwell-Taylor. It is constructed of stucco and features an Italianate style. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with three bays on the Westbourne Terrace side, the central bow being wider and slightly advanced. The entrance is framed by a segmental pediment and a thermal window, with rusticated quoins on the corners. A tripartite columnar porch with waterleaf capitals supports a balustrade above. There is a later 19th-century iron and glass canopy over the entrance, which has a panelled door set in stucco surrounds leading to the pavement. The windows are square-headed, architraved, and corniced on the ground floor, with the ground floor window being blind. The upper windows are sashes with plate glass. A dentil cornice runs above the first floor, with a subsidiary cornice at the attic level. To the left, there is a two-storey segmental bow window, and there is also a return to the right.
