Description

Primary School. Built between 1953 and 1954, designed by Drake and Lasdun for the London County Council. This building is designated a building of group value. It is a complex, free-form primary school with planting integrated into the central area. The school is divided into infant and junior departments, which are separately designed and scaled. The Junior School is a long, curving two-story block, while the infant section comprises four linked, low, single-story classroom blocks. An assembly hall is attached, featuring a splayed plan. The school is constructed of brick and concrete, with flat roofs; some of the brickwork is currently painted.
