Description

Our Lady Queen of Heaven is a church, originally nonconformist, dating to circa 1860. It is constructed of stock brick with stone dressings, and the roof is not visible. The design is in the Gothic Revival style. The building is four storeys high, including a basement. The facade facing Queensway comprises three main bays, with the outer bays slightly projected, and featuring pointed arched entrances at ground floor level. The central bay has steps leading up to a recessed entrance set within a pointed arched loggia, topped by a central gable. Most windows are lancets with pointed arched heads. The central window to the upper floor is of four lights with geometrical tracery. A quatrefoil balustrade adorns the parapet. Internally, there are two tiers of balconies supported by cast iron columns with Corinthian capitals.
