Description

Nos. 15 to 19 on Upper Montagu Street are terraced houses built around 1810 to 1820 as part of J.T. Parkinson's Montagu Square Portman Estate development. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor and feature concealed slate roofs. They rise four storeys above a basement and have two-window wide fronts.

The doorways are segmental arched and recessed for one order to the right, with panelled doors set in pilaster jambs and decorated fanlights above. The ground floor windows are also segmental arched and recessed for one order, featuring panelled aprons. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged arches. The stuccowork is finished with a plat band at the first floor level, and there is a crowning stucco cornice and blocking course.

The first floor is adorned with continuous cast iron balconies featuring palmette standards and geometric patterns. Additionally, there are cast iron area railings with urn finials.
