Description

This is a terraced town house, dating from approximately 1810 to 1820, built as part of James T. Parkinson’s Montagu Square development on the Portman Estate. The external walls are of stock brick with a stuccoed ground floor, and the roof is hidden behind slate. The house has four storeys and a basement, with a symmetrical facade of four windows. The entrance is positioned in a slightly projecting bay on the left side of the ground floor, featuring an architrave surround topped with a small segmental pediment, a panelled door, and a fanlight above. The windows are recessed sash windows; those on the ground floor have architrave surrounds, and the upper-floor windows have stuccoed reveals within flat, gauged brick arches. A plat band marks the end of the stucco work at the first floor level. The building is finished with a stucco cornice and blocking course. Cast iron area railings with urn finials are at street level.
