Description

No. 2 Wyndham Place is a terraced town house dating from circa 1820 to 1830. It is built of stock brick with a stuccoed ground floor, and has a concealed slate roof. The house is four storeys and has a basement, with a width of three windows. A square-headed doorway is on the right-hand side, featuring a panelled door and fanlight, flanked by stucco pilasters, a wreathed frieze, and a cornice. The recessed sash windows are set beneath round arches on the first floor and flat, gauged arches above, with stuccoed reveals. A plat band finishes the stucco work. The house has a crowning stucco cornice and blocking course, together with cast iron area railings topped with urn finials. The interior retains several original features including a staircase with cast iron balusters, original cornice mouldings, coffered ceilings, and pilastered marble fireplaces, all in a Grecian style.
