Description

No. 37, Crawford Street, is a corner terraced house built around 1811-1823 as part of John Parkinson's development of Wyndham Place and Bryanston Square. The house is constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed ground floor, and has a concealed slate roof. It stands four storeys high with a basement. The house is two windows wide, with an irregular one-window return to Wyndham Place. The ground floor windows have been altered, but the square-headed doorway with a fanlight is retained on the left side. Upper floor windows are recessed sash windows with glazing bars, set under flat, gauged red brick arches. A stucco string course runs along the first floor. The building has a parapet with coping. With its return to Wyndham Place, No. 37 contributes to the formal setting of St. Mary's Church, Wyndham Place.
