Description
No. 43 Crawford Street is a substantial terraced house built around 1811 to 1823, as part of J. Parkinson's Wyndham Place and Bryanston Square development. The house is constructed of plain stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor and has a concealed slate roof. It stands four storeys high and is four windows wide.
The central entrance features a semicircular arched doorway flanked by inset Greek Doric columns, with a panelled door and fanlights. To the left, there is a carriage entry. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sash windows beneath flat gauged arches, with the tall first-floor windows protected by cast iron, geometric patterned guards. The building is topped with a parapet that has stone coping.
Inside, the layout is plain, featuring a narrow open well staircase with a simple square section baluster. Some enriched joinery elements can be found on the first floor.
