Description
The Royal Oak Public House is an end-of-terrace public house located on York Street in the City of Westminster. It was built in the early to mid 19th century and underwent alterations in 1880 by W E Williams. The building is constructed of grey stock brick with stucco dressings and features a concealed slate roof. It stands four storeys tall and is three windows wide, with a four-window wide return to Enford Street. The public house front is pilastered and has a splayed corner entrance, topped with an entablature fascia and a dentil cornice. The upper floors feature sash windows that are recessed in stucco architraves, with consoled pediments on the first floor and consoled cornices on the second floor. Both the second and third floors have continuous plat bands on the frontages. The building is capped with a stucco cornice and a blocking course. It is included in the register for its group value only.
