Description
No. 18 Montagu Street is a terraced town house built around 1790-1800 as part of the Portman Estate development, which extends from Great Cumberland Place. The building is constructed of stock brick and features a slate roof. It stands four storeys tall with a basement and has a dormered mansard roof. The façade is four windows wide, with a segmental arched doorway located in the second bay from the left. This doorway is framed by a stucco porch supported by Doric columns and includes a panelled door with sidelights, topped by a doorhead with shallow consoles and a radial patterned fanlight. The windows are recessed glazing bar sashes set beneath flat gauged red brick arches. The building has a parapet with stone coping and a continuous wrought iron balcony on the first floor, along with cast iron area railings that feature urn finials.
