Description
Nos. 13 to 15 Upper Berkeley Street are terraced town houses built around 1780 to 1800 as part of the Portman Estate development. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, with No. 13 featuring red brick and a stuccoed ground floor, and they have concealed slate roofs. They rise four storeys and include basements. Nos. 13 and 14 have three-window wide fronts, while No. 15 has two windows.
Each house has semicircular arched doorways on the left, with No. 13 having an architrave surround, panelled doors, and fanlights. The ground floors of each house feature two recessed sashes, with architrave surrounds on No. 13. The upper floors have recessed sashes set beneath flat gauged red brick arches. There is a plat band that finishes off the ground floor stuccowork of No. 13, and a parapet with coping above.
No. 13 has cast iron balconettes on the first floor, while Nos. 14 and 15 have slightly later cast iron balconies with palmette and baluster designs. The properties also feature cast iron area railings with urn finials.
