Description
No. 37 Great Cumberland Place is a terraced town house built around 1790-1800 as part of the Portman Estate development. The house is constructed of stock brick and features a slate roof. It has four storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard, with three windows across the front. To the left, there is a semicircular arched doorway with a panelled door and sidelights set in panelled pilaster jambs, topped with a fluted doorhead and fanlight. The windows are recessed sashes beneath flat gauged red brick arches. A stucco plat band is present at the first floor, along with a crowning cornice and blocking course. The original cast iron balcony with a geometric pattern spans the first floor, and there are cast iron area railings with urn finials.
