Description

43 Great Cumberland Place is a terraced town house built around 1800 to 1820 as part of the Portman Estate development. The building is of four storeys and has a basement. It has three windows across the front. The exterior is stock brick, with the ground floor channelled in stucco. The roof is hidden behind a parapet with stone coping.

A doorway, next to an entry leading to a mews, is positioned on the left-hand side of the ground floor, with one window to the right. The doorway has a panelled door and a rectangular fanlight set within a stucco architrave flanked by pilasters that carry an entablature. The upper floors feature recessed sash windows, each set beneath a flat, gauged red brick arch. A cast iron balcony runs across the first floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials are present at street level. The building is included on the register for group value only.
