Description
The Coach and Horses Public House is a public house located on the corner of Hill Street and Hay's Mews in the City of Westminster. It was built in the late 18th century and early 19th century. The building features a stocco tiled roof and stands three storeys tall, with a basement and a dormered mansard. There are three windows on the facade. The ground floor is channelled and returns under a cornice to Hay's Mews, where there is an entrance and a projecting one-storey bay. The first-floor windows are adorned with architraves and cornices. A main cornice and blocking course are present, and below the second-floor windows, a deep plat band inscribed in early 19th-century lettering displays the pub's name. There are cast iron railings surrounding the area, and the upper floors facing Hay's Mews are constructed of plain brick.
