Description

TQ 2980 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER OLD BOND STREET Wl 70/68 (west side) 5.2.70 No 25 - II Originally 2 terraced houses. Early to mid C18,altered probably mid C19 for commercial premises, the double shop front of 1865 by F. P. Cockerell. Darkened brick, slate roof. 4 storeys (top floor early C19 addition) and continuous dormer to mansard. 6 windows wide. The double shop front is pilastered with dentil cornice to entablature carried across ground floor; arcaded shop windows with slender engaged columns, central shop entrance similarly framed and side entrance with square headed door flanked by pilasters with consoles carrying over-door with scroll pediment. Upper floors have recessed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged arches, those on 1st floor with stucco dentil cornices. Stucco cornice and former parapet coping at 3rd floor level, parapet with coping on added attic storey. Interior retains original staircases from 1st floor up, cornices, doorcases etc.
