Description
25 Old Bond Street is a Grade II listed building originally constructed as two terraced houses in the early to mid-18th century. It was altered, likely in the mid-19th century, to serve as commercial premises, with a double shop front added in 1865 by F. P. Cockerell. The building features darkened brick and a slate roof, standing four storeys high, with the top floor being an early 19th-century addition and a continuous dormer to the mansard.
The façade is six windows wide, showcasing a double shop front that is pilastered and topped with a dentil cornice across the ground floor. The shop windows are arcaded and supported by slender engaged columns, with a central entrance framed similarly and a side entrance featuring a square-headed door flanked by pilasters and consoles that support an over-door with a scroll pediment.
The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sash windows set under flat gauged arches, with those on the first floor adorned with stucco dentil cornices. A stucco cornice and former parapet coping are present at the third floor level, and the parapet has coping on the added attic storey. Inside, the building retains original staircases from the first floor upwards, along with cornices and doorcases.
