Description
No. 17 Albemarle Street is an early 18th-century terrace house located in the City of Westminster. It is constructed of brown brick and features a slate roof. The building has five storeys and a basement, with a width of three windows. The doorway is positioned to the right and is adorned with a wooden carved architrave, consoles, and a dentil course. The revealed sash windows, which do not have glazing bars, are set within 19th-century stucco architraves. There is a stone plat band and sill band at the first floor, a stone cornice above the second floor, and a parapet with coping. The property is also equipped with wrought iron area railings that include parts of lamp standards. Although the interior has been altered, some original features remain, such as panelling and doorcases on the ground floor, as well as the original timber staircase, which has a cut string, carved tread ends, twisted balusters, and a swept handrail.
