Description
No 29 Albemarle Street is a house built in the early 18th century, with some alterations. The building is finished in stucco and has four storeys plus a basement, featuring four windows. To the left, there is a giant pilaster. The ground floor is rusticated and includes a round arched doorway on the right, which is flanked by early 19th century double panelled doors. The windows on the upper floors are square headed recessed sashes, with later casement windows that open as French casements onto a balcony. Above the third floor, there is a cornice and blocking course. The first floor has a continuous cast iron balcony, and the area railings are made of cast iron with urn finials. Inside, the house retains a wrought iron balustraded staircase and remnants of 18th century plasterwork in the hall and first floor drawing rooms. On the ground floor, there is a late 19th century Gothic chapel decorated with Hindu deities.
