Terrace house, late C18, remodelled internally early and late C19. Yellow stock brick, slate roof. 4 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 5 windows wide. Altered ground floor with 3 bay early to mid C20 shop front and semicircular arched doorway to right with fanlight, in stucco surround with consoles carrying entablature. Upper floors have revealed sash windows, no glazing bars, under flat gauged arches. Moulded stone cornice over 2nd floor. Parapet with coping. Area railings of cast iron with urn finials. Early C19 interior with cornices, doorcases, stone staircase with wrought iron balustrade, chimneypiece with Wedgwood plaque brought in from No 32 Soho Square, Sir Joseph Banks' house. No 20 was incorporated into the Royal Institution in 1894.
