Description
The K6 telephone kiosk is a standard design made of cast iron, standing approximately 2.4 meters (eight feet) tall and square in shape, topped with a shallow domed roof. Its glazed door and side panels feature eight horizontal glazed sections divided by glazing bars, with vertical marginal glazing bars. The back panel has the same moulding but is unglazed. The upper part of the kiosk displays white illuminated signage panels on all four sides, reading ‘TELEPHONE’, with a Tudor crown emblem above each panel, which was used on K6 kiosks until around 1953. The telephone equipment inside is modern.
This K6 kiosk was likely installed in its current location in the 1990s. It is situated at the south end of Old Bond Street, near the junction with Burlington Gardens, and has a strong visual connection with several listed buildings nearby.
