Description

No. 24 Old Bond Street is a grand commercial building located on a prominent corner site, designed by Vincent Harris in 1926. The structure is made of Portland stone and features a gable end leaded roof. It showcases an unabashed Gothic Revival style with Arts and Crafts detailing. The building stands five storeys tall with an attic beneath a steeply pitched roof, topped by a delicately leaded fleche that houses a carillon of bells.

The ground floor has arcaded openings that are clean-cut, except for the moulding around the arches. On Old Bond Street, the upper floor windows are deeply set, with the central ones framed in a moulded structure that rises into a three-storey arch at the gable. On Burlington Gardens, the second and sixth bays feature three-storey oriels that are connected by a pierced Gothic stone balcony on the second floor. All upper floor windows consist of four and three light sharply profiled mullioned iron casements with leaded lights.

The building is adorned with carved and polychromed stonework, including heraldic devices on the oriels and a frieze below the parapet, which has weathered coping. Additionally, ornate Arts and Crafts ironwork is present in the rainwater goods.
