Description

The tower and spire of Christ Church, dating to 1855 and designed by Messrs F and H Francis, are constructed of rubble stone with ashlar dressings. The tower is in the Geometrical/Decorated Gothic style and is square with a plain design, featuring three main stages. The third stage has paired bell louvres, corner buttresses, and a recessed spire set within an openwork parapet, linked to corner pinnacles by openwork flying buttresses. Three stages of lucarnes are presented to alternate faces. The tower is listed for group value only, with a later 20th-century residential development attached to the north and east not considered to be of special interest.
