Description

TQ 2680 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER LANCASTER GATE, W2 64/37 (south side) 5.2.70 Nos 95 to 99 (consec) GV II Part of terrace of houses. Mid C19. Sancton Wood. Stucco. 4 storeys to main Bayswater Road facade with 2-storey facade to rear. Symmetrical composition to Bayswater Road. Each house 3 windows wide. Channelling to ground floor and first floor, recessed behind superimposed Doric and Ionic colonnades. Nos 95 and 99 each with central canted 3-storey bay window, with Corinthian half columns to second floor and central window to this floor pedimented. Centre house with similar half columns and pediment but with flat facade. Square-headed architraved sashed windows, plate glass. Cornices between storeys. Main rich dentil cornice with key frieze above third floor. Central house with circular windows to attic. Return to left. Rear facade also of architectural interest with superimposed order to channelled facade. Originally part of larger terrace with Nos 104 to 109 (qv); integral part of Lancaster Gate planned layout.
